Looking for a provider to connect Zoho Books to URA EFRIS in Uganda? That is what we do. You keep invoicing in Zoho Books as you do today. Each invoice goes to URA, and its fiscal document number (FDN), verification code and QR code come back to print on the document your customer receives. Nobody re-keys anything into the URA portal.
Zoho Books is entirely online, so there is no server in your office and no computer that has to be on. Two details are specific to Zoho.
You approve the connection on Zoho's own consent screen. No password is stored and nothing is installed. Zoho tells us as each invoice is raised, so the invoice is fiscalised straight away.
Zoho keeps each organisation in the data centre it was created in, and an approval given in one region does not work in another. It is a quick check at the start that saves a confusing afternoon.
The fiscal document number, verification code and QR code are kept on the invoice and placed on your own invoice template, so your customer gets the document they already recognise.
URA needs more than the invoice itself. These are sent from Zoho Books and kept in step.
Each invoice is fiscalised with URA as it is raised in Zoho Books, and comes back with its fiscal document number (FDN), verification code and QR code to print.
Raised against the invoice they correct, which is how URA requires them.
Registered with URA through the connection, each with URA's unit of measure and its tax type. Nothing is typed into the URA portal.
Opening stock and later movements are reported, because URA refuses a sale of goods it holds no stock for. Services carry no stock.
A business buyer's TIN goes with the sale, as URA requires for business-to-business invoices.
Standard, zero-rated, exempt and deemed VAT, and excise duty where it applies — each sent as you recorded it.
Connecting the two is the easy part. These are the places where Zoho Books and URA think about a sale differently, and each is settled as part of the setup.
A Ugandan business runs Zoho's global edition, where VAT rates are whatever was typed in. URA has one fixed set of tax types, so your rates are matched to URA's once, at setup.
Zoho lets an item be goods without tracking its stock. URA refuses a sale of goods it holds no stock for, so how those items are handled is settled at setup.
Zoho numbers invoices per organisation. URA allows each number once for a TIN, so organisations sharing a TIN have their numbering agreed at setup.
You are told why in plain words: URA's own code and message, and what to do about it. You correct it in Zoho Books and it is sent again. Nothing is changed on its way to URA, so your books and URA's records always agree.
Most businesses want the first. Software companies and teams with their own developers usually want the second.

No. Zoho Books has no Uganda edition and no EFRIS feature of its own, so it needs a connection. Once connected, each invoice is fiscalised with URA and comes back with its fiscal document number, verification code and QR code.
On your own invoice template. The fiscal document number, verification code and QR code are kept on the invoice and placed on the template you already use.
No. Your items are registered with URA through the connection, each with URA's unit of measure and its tax type. Goods also have their stock reported; services do not.
It depends on how many organisations you connect, so we quote once we know what you have. With nothing to install, the connection is quick; most of the time goes into getting your EFRIS environment ready with URA.
