Looking for a provider to connect Odoo to URA EFRIS in Uganda? That is what we do, for Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and self-hosted Odoo. You keep invoicing in Odoo as you do today. Each invoice goes to URA, and its fiscal document number (FDN), verification code and QR code come back to print on the document your customer receives. Nobody re-keys anything into the URA portal.
It decides one thing you will notice every day: whether an invoice URA refuses can be stopped before it is posted.
A module is installed inside Odoo, so the invoice is fiscalised as it is confirmed. If URA refuses it, the posting stops and the person raising it is told why, there and then. The fiscal details sit on the invoice and print on the standard layout.
Odoo's own hosted edition takes no custom modules, so the connection is made from outside. Invoices are picked up as they are confirmed and the fiscal details written back. A refused invoice cannot be stopped first: it is reported at once and corrected with a credit note.
URA needs more than the invoice itself. These are sent from Odoo and kept in step.
Each invoice is fiscalised with URA as it is raised in Odoo, and comes back with its fiscal document number (FDN), verification code and QR code to print.
Raised against the invoice they correct, which is how URA requires them.
Registered with URA through the connection, each with URA's unit of measure and its tax type. Nothing is typed into the URA portal.
Opening stock and later movements are reported, because URA refuses a sale of goods it holds no stock for. Services carry no stock.
A business buyer's TIN goes with the sale, as URA requires for business-to-business invoices.
Standard, zero-rated, exempt and deemed VAT, and excise duty where it applies — each sent as you recorded it.
Connecting the two is the easy part. These are the places where Odoo and URA think about a sale differently, and each is settled as part of the setup.
Odoo lets a product be goods without tracking its stock — a consumable, in many versions. To URA it is still goods, and URA refuses a sale of goods it holds no stock for. How those items are treated is settled at setup.
Odoo will hold a price with the tax inside it. URA wants the price and the tax stated, and checks both, so the amounts are reconciled before they are sent.
Odoo numbers invoices per company. URA allows each number once for a TIN, so companies sharing a TIN have their numbering agreed at setup.
You are told why in plain words: URA's own code and message, and what to do about it. You correct it in Odoo and it is sent again. Nothing is changed on its way to URA, so your books and URA's records always agree.
Most businesses want the first. Software companies and teams with their own developers usually want the second.

All three. Odoo.sh and self-hosted Odoo take a module, so the invoice is fiscalised as it is confirmed. Odoo Online takes no custom modules, so it is connected from outside.
